24 from Nigeria Schoolgirls Liberated Over a Week After Kidnapping

Approximately 24 West African young women taken hostage from a boarding school over a week ago have been released, national leadership announced.

Gunmen stormed an educational institution situated within local province recently, killing one staff member and seizing 25 students.

Nigerian President government leadership applauded security forces for their "quick action" following the event - although specific details of the girls' release remained unclear.

West Africa's dominant power has suffered a spate of captures over the past few years - including over two hundred fifty youths taken from a Catholic school last Friday still missing.

In a statement, a special adviser of the administration confirmed that all the girls abducted from the school located in the area were now safe, stating that the incident sparked similar abductions across further Nigerian states.

Tinubu announced that additional forces would be deployed to "vulnerable areas to prevent additional occurrences involving abductions".

Through another message on X, Tinubu commented: "The Air Force is to maintain continuous surveillance across distant regions, coordinating activities with ground units to properly detect, isolate, disturb, and neutralise any dangerous presence."

Exceeding numerous youths got captured from Nigerian schools since 2014, when multiple young women were taken hostage amid the well-known Chibok mass abduction.

Recently, a minimum of 300 children and staff were abducted from a learning facility, faith-based academy, situated in regional territory.
