FC Barcelona Ready for First Game at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host the Bilbao team in the Spanish league two and a half years following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted a public practice on the home pitch in early November. They mentioned approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht in December at Camp Nou. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
