The Miami Heat recorded eighty-six first-half points versus the Grizzlies

Miami Heat secured a decisive 146 to 114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in their first NBA match after guard Terry Rozier was arrested for suspected unlawful gambling.

Trail Blazers coach Billups was also detained as part of a sweeping FBI probe into illegal gambling. The two individuals deny the claims.

However, the Miami team were focused as they scored eighty-six opening half scores to be ahead of the Grizzlies by 39 at halftime, the largest half-time advantage in the franchise's 37-year existence.

Adebayo led the way with twenty-four scores and later said Rozier had the team's full backing.

Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra commented: "Terry is a person who is important to all of us. He has made a real positive impact on our team.

"Our thoughts are with him and support for him as he goes through this."

Portland additionally secured their initial match since the arrests, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter taking over as interim coach in Chauncey's absence and leading the team to a convincing 139-119 win against the Golden State Warriors.

"We all had great experiences with Chauncey and how he coached," Tiago remarked. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but our focus is on the game."

NBA Commissioner Silver 'Disturbed' over Arrests

Speaking about the arrests for the initial occasion, league head Adam Silver stated he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the past few days.

"Nothing is more critical to the NBA and supporters than the integrity of the game," he told a broadcaster. "And so I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

Silver also said an league probe into Rozier's conduct in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a game he participated for the Charlotte Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We investigated the matter and were open about it. Although there was the unusual wagering, we, honestly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can take various actions that the NBA can't do.

"Therefore, we've been cooperating from that point. And, of course, what they announced yesterday was an charge.

"And 30 months after, he has not been found guilty of any offense, in fairness to Terry.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance here between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."

After racking up 43 points in a first loss to the Warriors, the European star achieved forty-nine points - to go with eleven rebounds and eight assists - as the Los Angeles beat the Timberwolves 128-110.

From Greece forward Giannis Antetokounmpo also had a big night with 31 points, twenty boards and 7 passes in the Bucks' 122 to 116 win over the Toronto Raptors.

Rockets were defeated 115 to 111 by the Detroit Pistons despite thirty-seven scores from Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had twenty-nine scores, eleven boards and 9 blocks in the Spurs' overtime win against the New Orleans.
