The President Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Guard Soldiers to White House

President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.

White House Call

The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees assembled over the weekend at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to assist public safety in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to assist people.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Government Changes

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event led the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and cease providing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor the governor mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general told the program that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” he informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
