The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry instalment that players explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for celebrating chaos and mayhem with the same excitement, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose creations have represented all of those qualities.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' style by featuring a fresh backdrop and cast of characters in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing belief and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology series. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the core of people through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our common bold, ambitious style to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
