Triple MVP Jokic endures a 'gut-wrenching' knee injury.
Three-time National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" injury to his knee when the Nuggets lost 147-123 to the Miami Heat.
The star player injured himself late in the first half during an inadvertent contact with teammate Spencer Jones.
Jones landed on the footwear of the big man, and he promptly went down to the court clutching his knee.
The star, who tops the NBA this season in boards and assists, posted a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup before incurring the injury.
Jokic will have an MRI scan on the following day to evaluate the extent of the injury.
"Right away, Jokic realized something was wrong," stated Nuggets coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Whoever who gets hurt, that's difficult, most notably somebody as talented as him. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"We will continue as a team. Of course, currently, I'm more worried about him as a person and the frustration of experiencing a situation of that nature."
